Cigars have long been a symbol of stature in class. With a history dating back to the 10th century, cigars have always been a gentleman's luxury. While cigars were always thought to be a much more refined smoking instrument, they are still just as deadly. Perhaps not helping to the mythology of cigar smoking, many famous men passed away due to cigar smoke.
United States President Ulysses S. Grant died of throat cancer due to large part to his cigar smoking. Dr. Sigmund Freud fell victim to mouth cancer due chiefly to his cigar smoking. Both of these men were heavy cigar smokers regularly indulging in an entire box in one day. George Burns, one of the most famous vaudeville comedians was also always known to have a cigar in his hand. Groucho Marx was also a heavy cigar smoker and he paid for it towards the end of his life. The great German philosopher political economist and revolutionary Karl Marx was also known to be heavy cigar smoker. One of the most famous jazz musicians of all time, Miles Davis was also a heavy cigar smoker. It's sort of ironic that Davis smoked cigars so heavily considering his trumpet solos are among the very best ever recorded. It should come as no great surprise that they need a history of cigar smoking in the United States and the world is due largely to the people before us who smoke them. Cigar smoking is often known as the right of passage for young men to become a gentleman; look around in a birthing ward of a hospital you'll see tons of pink balloons for girls and men's smoking cigars when there is a notice of a boy born. If you want to buy some great cigars, is often suggested that you need to go to Cuba. Even though there has been much contention by the experts that cigars from Honduras and Nicaragua are just as good as the ones you find in Cuba, Cuban cigars still get the sentimental vote from most. If you want to find out more about cigars you can most certainly look on the Internet. There are tons of websites and organizations dedicated to the smoking and continuation of cigars and popular culture. Finding out about cigars and enjoying one occasionally is a fine thing to do; you just need to be careful not to follow in the footsteps of all these great men before you can become too addicted to this sweet tobacco product.
