One things that have really changed is the future of airfares. It use to be a time when it was so expensive to fly, but that has changed a lot in recent years. Airfares seem to keep going up with no end in site. Let's take a look why this is happening and will it ever stop. First thing that people need to understand that after 9-11 less people are flying thus airfares are down and they have to make more money off less people flying. Is this fair? No, but that's how it always is the consumer pays for it.
Fuel prices have not been going down and it's quite expensive to pay for jet fuel. This trend looks to continue for a very long time. America is dependent on foreign oil and until that stops we will see airfares continue to rise. Even the smaller carriers such as jetblue have been felling the pinch and that trend will continue too. What is the solution to this mess were in? The only answers I really see is a lot less traveling or better more fuel efficient jets that will lower the cost to airlines. Alternative fuels are another option, but I don't know if that is even in the talking stages yet. It's something we should consider though. Cheap airfare is something that you don't see as much as in previous years. One good way to find a really cheap air fare is try some web sites on the Internet. many sites will let you check some of the best deals and even book them online. prices change so often it's best if you grab the airfare as soon as often. What's next for us and the airlines. I don't think the government is going to bail out the airlines so it looks like if the consumer wants a airfare that is a good deal they will have to search long and hard. Hopefully in the future things will get better and the airline industry will figure this out. I seriously doubt it though as until we set some ground rules and work on our problems things can't change. With soaring fuel costs and no plan to get them in control I guess we will be at the mercy of foreign oil. It's a shame but a reality in our world anymore.
