A long time ago trains were the mode of transportation that people used to travel. Now trains are used very sparingly as air transportation has replaced rail travel. Their are still places that have train travel, but it's disappearing and won't be coming back. Let's take a look at some of the reasons for the demise of trains. People have and always will want the quickest and cheapest way to get some where and train travel just isn't one of them anymore. Trains were great to use if you wanted to see the scenery across this great country. Anymore people are trading trade travel for car and airplane.
Cheap trains travel does still exist, but finding it is a lot tougher than it use to be, People just don't ride trains anymore and if any are surviving it's few and far between. The train has also suffered as tracks are not repaired like they once were. Trains use to carry all our needs from everyday products to cars. That has been cut in half and every year it gets smaller. Pretty soon their will be no cargo hauled on train tracks. Trains at one time it was figured they would be the way of travel in major cities, but the cost of building the tracks and rail system was just to expensive and no corporate help was given thus it failed to come to pass. Where does this leave trains and their future in America? It's very bleak and no improvement is in the future. Train travel is almost non-existent now and that will continue in the near future. The problem is train travel is outdated and their are more efficient ways to travel from point a to point b. Train travel just isn't one of them anymore. We are losing a great part of American folklore and the next generations of people may never ever get to ride on a train except in an amusement park. now that's very sad. The death of trains is upon us and we are basically powerless to stop their demise no matter how much we try. Hopefully when we look back we will realize what we did and still will take the time to show kids what trains were like and how at one time they were a big part of America and in a lot of people's mind still is.
