What's the difference between a motel and a hotel? That is a question that many people ask and the answer has a broad range. Basically a hotel is a higher end place to stay where as a motel is usually cheaper to stay at and not as nice. The motel industry for the most part has had a bad rap for a few years now and their are less and less motels around. let's take a look at that. The motel for the most part is a lower end place to stay and don't offer what a hotel will. This has hurt the motel industry and most people who stay their are their for the prices. Motels are usually a lot cheaper to stay at than a hotel.
The name motel makes people thing of a lot of bad things such as drug dealers and bums staying at motels, but that isn't always the truth. many motels are portrayed that way in movies and they are not all like that. You can single one motel out and say they are all bad because they aren't. I've stayed at some motel's and some have been very good places and actually gave me better service than some of the higher price hotels. Cheap motel rooms are still a draw for most motels and that will continue to be the case. With our economy struggling at times a motel is the logical choice if you want to save yourself some money. The motel industry to it's credit have tried to change their image as they have made improvements to their motels. Better rooms and extras have been a good idea on their part and should help them change their image. It's hard to change your image once people have a perception of what you are and what you do. Hopefully this will have some kind of impact on it. It's hard to say if a motel will ever be used in the same breath as a hotel, but at least they are trying to change that perception. In a way maybe a motel has survived because it's a cheaper alternative to a hotel.aybe change isn't good for it. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens with the motel industry before we will know that answer and if it has worked.
